Context Is Everything

One of the founding principles of the Virtual University of Small States of the Commonwealth is that educators should be permitted to deliver courses in a variety of formats according to need and context. Content developed for various courses must be adapted and accessed in local context.

Educators are welcome to revise course materials to suit the social, cultural and geographic context of their educational institution. It helps learners to interact meaningfully with course materials that refer to real-life contexts such as the tourism highlights of their home country for a course in tourism or the main crops grown in their home country for a course in agriculture.

Learning in context means that course materials must be designed to include learning experiences that are based on authentic situations and events.
